The Motif ES lists 10 delays; at the same settings they give 9 different echo patterns. Each row is one click through that delay at its default settings with the dry sound mixed in, so time is counted from the click. Every column uses one scale from top to bottom.
In plain terms: read across a row to see one delay's echo pattern and its key times, read down a column to compare them all. Click a column title to sort by it; click a row to open that delay's controls. Under the board: each delay's controls setting by setting, then 4 detailed charts, closed until you open them.
Delayclick a row for its controlsEvery echo that came back in 2.6 s. Left side above the line, right side below; taller = bigger. Grey mark = the click. When the first echo lands on each side, counted from the click. When the last echo big enough to read lands (within about 45 dB of the click). Longer = more repeats.Echoes read on both sides together.Whether the two sides echo at the same moments or take turns.

Controls, setting by setting
One sheet per delay. Every tested setting of a control sits next to the others on the same time scale, so you can watch an echo slide along as a time control goes up, or the repeats multiply as feedback goes up, without leaving the row.
ring colour: barely changes the soundchanges it a lot▮ left echo▮ right echo▬ tone against the default
Cross Delayevery control, every tested setting
Each row is one control. Its ring is its travel, coloured by how much the sound changes along it. To the right, one cell per tested setting. For the time and feedback controls the cell is the echo pattern itself (left above the line, right below, the grey mark is where time starts); for the others it is the change in tone against the default.

The EQ frequency and width controls, each stepped with its own band at full boost (at flat gain they have nothing to move). Every tested setting is overlaid, low setting cyan to high setting amber, against the same band at flat gain: bass left, treble right, top and bottom are 24 dB up and down. Where a peak could be followed, the cell after it gives its pitch or width at each end of the control.

What each control does in physical units, from the probes made for it: the line is the reading as the control goes from its lowest setting (left) to its highest (right), and the numbers under it are the reading at those two ends. Each cell has its own height scale.

Every pair of controls that was recorded at all four corners (each at its low and its high test setting). A cell is what the second control does to the tone, bass left to treble right: cyan with the first control low, amber with it high. The two lines lying on each other means the controls simply add; lines apart means one changes what the other does. The pairs furthest apart come first. On an effect that moves by itself some of the gap is the movement caught at a different moment.
Not shown, because these recordings show no measurable change from them: EQ Low Freq, Feedback High Damp.
Delay L,R Stevery control, every tested setting
Each row is one control. Its ring is its travel, coloured by how much the sound changes along it. To the right, one cell per tested setting. For the time and feedback controls the cell is the echo pattern itself (left above the line, right below, the grey mark is where time starts); for the others it is the change in tone against the default.

Detailed charts
The measurements behind the board, at full size, each with what it shows, how to read it and what it found.
In plain terms: the board gives the comparison at a glance; open one of these when you want the full picture of a single quality.
Every echo of one click, placed between the speakers
What it shows. One click sent to both channels through each delay at its default settings, and every echo that comes back, drawn like notes on a stave: one line per effect.
How to read it. Time after the click runs left to right. On each effect's dotted line, a dot above the line is an echo in the left speaker (cyan), below it the right (amber), on it the centre (white); bigger dots are louder echoes. The thin line joins the echoes in order, so a zig-zag is a ping-pong delay.
What it found.
Cross Delay bounces between left and right (5 echoes read, typically 280 ms apart).
Ctrl Delay 1 stays in the centre (3 echoes read, typically 830 ms apart).
Ctrl Delay 2 stays in the centre (3 echoes read, typically 615 ms apart).
Delay L,C,R bounces between left and right (9 echoes read, typically 140 ms apart).
Delay L,R bounces between left and right (10 echoes read, typically 140 ms apart).
Delay L,R St bounces between left and right (6 echoes read, typically 290 ms apart).
Echo alternates sides in pairs (10 echoes read, typically 140 ms apart).
Only echoes within about 45 dB of the loudest are read, so long feedback tails stop early here.
Where every echo lands as a time control is turned
What it shows. A click through each delay with the dry sound mixed in, recorded at every tested setting of one time control. Every echo that came back is a dot.
How to read it. Time after the click runs left to right; each row is one setting of the control, lowest at the bottom. Cyan dots (upper of each pair) are left-speaker echoes, amber (lower) right; bigger dots are bigger echoes. A column of dots that leans to the right is an echo this control moves; a column that stands straight is one it leaves alone. Use the slider to change effect and control.
What it found.
The 28 echo lines that follow a fine (14-bit) time control move 0.1000 ms per step (smallest 0.1000, largest 0.1000); Yamaha documents 0.1 ms.
Lag moves its echo 0.996 ms per step (documented as 1 ms).
12 controls move echoes on one side only (Delay L,C,R Delay Time L, Delay L,C,R Delay Time R, Delay L,R Delay Time L, Delay L,R Delay Time R, Delay L,R St Delay Time L, Delay L,R St Delay Time R, Delay L,R St Feedback Time L, Delay L,R St Feedback Time R, Echo Delay Time L1, Echo Delay Time L2, Echo Delay Time R1, Echo Delay Time R2); 11 move both sides together (Cross Delay Delay Time L to R, Cross Delay Delay Time R to L, Ctrl Delay 1 Delay Time, Ctrl Delay 2 Delay Time, Delay L,C,R Delay Time C, Delay L,C,R Feedback Time, Delay L,R Feedback Time 1, Delay L,R Feedback Time 2, Tempo Cross Delay Lag, Tempo Delay 1 Lag, Tempo Delay 2 Lag).
Each EQ band moving, with its gain at maximum
What it shows. The Cross Delay's EQ frequency and width controls, each stepped from its lowest to its highest tested setting while its own band is at full boost. At flat gain these controls have nothing to move, which is why they showed no change before.
How to read it. Bass on the left, treble on the right; the height is how much that pitch is boosted compared with the same band at flat gain. One line per control; press play or drag the slider to step every control up together, and the legend gives each one's setting at that step.
What it found.
No peak could be followed cleanly enough to put a number on.
The low and high bands are broad slopes with no single point to follow, so they are drawn and not given a number.
Which controls depend on each other
What it shows. Every pair of controls that was recorded at all four corners, each control at its low and its high test setting, for the Delay effects. For each pair: what the second control does to the tone with the first one low, what it does with the first one high, and how far apart those two are as a share of the larger.
How to read it. One dot is one pair; hover for which. At the left edge the second control does the same thing wherever the first one is, so the two simply add. At the right edge it does something at one end of the first control and nothing, or the opposite, at the other. The same pairs are drawn as curves on each effect's sheet above, under two controls together.
What it found.
Of 53 pairs in which the second control changes the tone, 19 are ones where the first control changes what the second does.
The pair furthest apart is Feedback Level L with Delay Time L1 on Echo.
Tone only is compared, smoothed over about two thirds of an octave, so a change in timing alone does not show here.
On an effect that moves by itself part of any gap is the movement caught at a different moment.
Each effect's written breakdown, its measurement card and every single-control chart are on the
